Ghost

she empties her mouth
along the corridor

answering questions
from uninvited guests

like cloth
like smoke and mirrors

her hollow mouth
echoes in the hall

Andy as in Andralaine

his only daughter was his son
when she was his little girl

she knew baseball football basketball
teams schedules players stats and names

chewed jerky sardines spit sunflower seeds
held frogs lizards grasshoppers and worms

had her own tree house a paper route BB gun
changed oil mowed grass played marbles

until seventeen crowned homecoming queen
an evening dress lip stick corsage and a date

his only daughter was his son
until she became a woman
