Watching the rain fall over Bond Street
Spitting rain forms frogs eyes
as it careens down the thick
glass soles, eventually falling
into tic-tac-toe grids, ending
with a perfectly timed plop!
Girls wearing pollen coloured
tops try to avoid reinforcements,
legs skating across mustard
paving slabs as they start to
grab Some slip, others do not I have seen this re-enacted a
Nature always wins Period.
Plunging our forks into
the jam jars‚ tambourine
skin, we hunt the shoal
of glacée cherries chasing
the syrupy current Some
surrender immediately, others
dodge behind their crumpled
comrades, desperate to avoid
death But it is too late and we
start to attack the next batch,
Morello cherries Watching them
orbit the liquidised black hole,
I see myself slowly rotting.
