An Ode to Joheved She has Bordeaux in her veins and the sultry voice of peasants in song A master of acidity and sugar, she buttons cotton lace in medieval fare She knows the high priestess and her moons, the pulse and grip of fire over Talmudic words and the herbs to soothe She dons sprite slippers over moors and fens And in her home amid the aroma of sage, wormwood and lavender, the mirage appears From the vineyard to the cellar, the bees pollinate everything Joheved has ever touched. |
