You Should Know

What the woman across from you
is drinking is the preferred beverage
of great lovers

In the Distance Parallel Wires
Recorded the Conversation

In a blink
night changes trees
to black; nevertheless
night has no sway
no magic over crows

quid pro quo

you start to die when
the first cells divide

along with that first heartbeat
and the autonomic impulse
to suck a fledgling thumb

when the walls collapse
and you’re propelled from water to air
you belt out a primal FUCK YOU
to a world full of screamers

welcome to the chorus
of Never No Not Evers
stay in time
and stay in tune
