Love From a Distance

Your only obligation was
a daily call
and perhaps
a couple of flirty emails
but the closest we got to
an actual relationship
was a talent for phone sex
bickering about whose turn it was
to make the coffee during
your occasional visits and
trying to sift through the morass
of daily trials and tribulations
to come up with interesting anecdotes
and clever observations
for post-coital conversations.


To Here

Just before
the first time
we made love
you asked how much
I loved you

I answered
“From here”.

Two years later you come
only when your lips
taste of liquor

leaving
convenient kisses
excused
by drink.

We have become a skipped
stone
sinking slowly
in the water

so tomorrow I
will finish my answer

“To here”.

did you know, that

i was born, in a prison cell
and every side of the womb
was a mirror
so we were born
as sextuplets,
touching our,
our own sanities,
slipping through the fingers,
of a thief.
