Death Can Wait

You laughed at death in the graveyard,
demeaned every stupid corpse, kicked
every casket with your selfish bliss.

You suckerbit your name on my belly.
Our breath mingled in the powerless cold.

Bio (auto)

Michael (Decatur, Illinois) was born Jan 31, 1968 at 3:01.001 p.m. and began writing at 3:03 p.m. It only took him that long because the doctors and nurses felt some strange need to slap and wash him. He was barely even born! But ever since, things have calmed down and he’s been writing pretty much ever since.

Art Alive

Essence coalesces
in the evening winter vapor
form driven into bone

starlight
from above as if to say
you have crawled up
from tombs of seeded mud
Hello and greetings, oh nascent ones

now name yourselves
aloud
